AfarThis part of the world is found in the Danakil Depression one of the lowest and unique land formation of the world in the Great Rift Valley system. This region is known by its archeological findings. These are Lucy (Dinknesh) which is an ancestor of human kind and 3.5 millions years old and Selam which is 4million years of age. It is also known of its internal movements, which gives bumping of hot springs and the famous Lake of molten Rock called ERTALE. Ertale means Smoking Mountain by Afar language.

At night when you walk to the volcanic hill Ertale 613m high you will see light from farther in the sky.
Ertale absolutely unique Lava lake is erupting 24 hours, with its round creator lake. This area is unstable, and the land is still pulling each other. This area worth visiting not only for adventure trip but also for study purpose.
This region is known by its lowest areas like Dalol & Dankel Depressions which are 116m & 120m below sea level respectively.

Sof-Omar Cave

Sof-Omar CaveAccording to tradition, Sof-Omar followed the course of the Juba River, just as sheik Hussein had done with Wabi Shebele.He turned at one of the tributaries of the Juba River which is called Weyb River. The Weyb begins in Bale, passes through a gorge and flows under ground for almost one and half kilometers and finally join the Juba River.
